~Tuesday, May 29th~

Blogging early today.  Its been a productive day and I am about to call it an end.  Coffee, walk and Reggie time this morning.  Karl brought me three large bags of grass clippings yesterday and I took the morning to spread them in a section of the garden.  Cleaned up...just a bit...and headed out to the store for some needs.  Home and took some time to read.  The girls came and we finished picking the strawberries for the day and made jam.  For supper there is a seven layer salad in the fridge just waiting!  Mostly comprised of fresh from our garden produce and eggs.  Took some time this afternoon and made a very large batch of Rum Slushies...so we will enjoy them this evening with a good movie!  Thought I would run out real quick and snatch some sour cherries off the trees!  They are loaded!  This is the third or fourth year since we planted the tree and years past we only ever got enough for the birds.  This year however it seems we will have more than enough for the birds and us!  Making a crisp with ice cream for dessert.  Looking forward to settle in this evening with a gorgeous man and some yummies.
Be well,
Lisa

~Friday, May 25th~

Its eleven thirty at night and I dont remember being so tired.  The garden is in some serious need of attention which I am hoping to give it tomorrow.  Today Larry took off work to have an extra long weekend and I think we both worked harder today than when he goes to work.  Early morning Katie and I set off to run some errands before taking a load of stuff to their new home.  They settled yesterday!  Got to the house and unloaded when James and Larry arrived.  After unloading the truck we set out to Lowes....ughhhh.  I really dislike driving in Martinsburg.  Their car overheated...which only Katie and I were in...about a block from the lowes on the right...where the guys were waiting on us.  Traffic was Horrid and people were so rude.  Except for a truck of some young men.  Wow!  Before I knew it they were out of their truck and had a chain hitched to the car and one was in the drivers seat.  And wow...they were each packing a pistol.  Someone made them mad...bad idea!  Anyhow, they were a real blessing.  Got the car running and Larry and katie and I headed home while James got the tractor.  James was to be at work but because of settlement took off.  The three of us went home to get ready for Fireflies Ballett recital.  Wish James could have went but again..he was to be at work!  Anyhow...started dinner at seven but had to box it up because the recital was at seven thirty.  Long night!  That thing lasted three hours!   Crazy!  Home...exhausted...and crashing in bed!  Till tomorrow.  Another adventure filled day im sure.
Be well,
Lisa

~Wednesday, May 23rd~

Oyi!!  Soooo tired.  Ready to fall into bed this evening.  The last couple of days have been so busy.  Busy right here at home.  The rains are creating some serious weeds out there in that garden.  And good fruits of the labor.  Spinach will be over tomorrow.  Spring onions dried as well.  Radishes are harvested minus the three left standing for next years seeds.  And the chinese spinach the chooks are enjoying very much...not me though!  Nope dont like it!  I like the kind I can buy to make kimchi in the store but NOT this type.  I will however let two go for next years seeds for anyone else who wants to try it.  Strawberries are coming in plentiful.  Made a cordial and a dessert and letting todays picking go until tomorrow for Firefly to enjoy.  Rhubarb vodka is needing to be made tomorrow or the next as well.  Lettuces are plentiful and needing used up soon.  Kohl Rabi is absolutely amazing out there.  And the celery will need harvested in the next week.  And thats not even starting with the mints and herbs.  WOW!  Very blessed these days.  Tomorrow is another day and what is left to be done tonight will be done then.  And then theres Katie and James...yikes...they are moving and I am so very very happy for them.  But so much work is to be done in a move.  I am so proud of our girls and how well they have turned out.  Its amazing to me!  Lots of changes have been taking place here for Larry and I as well.  A new plan has been put into action.  Less festivals and events will take place this summer and fall....BIG plans in the works.  And the changes are sooooo worth it.  Cannot wait to see it all work out!  Well im off for the night and heading to that wonderful bed!

~Sunday, May 20th~

Its been an amazing day!  I love days when things just flow so nicely.  Slept in which felt so good.  Have been battling a little of a cold this week.  Had coffee and Reggie time before setting out to tackle a huge to do list.  That wonderful Husband of mine...the first thing he did today was put up a hammock we got yesterday while yard saling.  Yep...im going to be spending lots of time there.  He also cleaned out the chooks coop and started a new composting area just for their poopey!  I love that man!  Wish he could be home everyday.  Someday!  One thing we set out to do this weekend was to get the entire garden planted.  And we did!  Hoping to have pictures weekly to watch its progress.  We also had a wonderful meal today.  Fresh salad from the garden and some strawberries from the beds to put with some cantelope.  Yummm.  Took Reggie for a nice long hike in the mountains and came home to end the evening with a fire in the fire pit, some roasted marshmallows and a glass of wine.  Love these summer days and evenings.
Be well,
Lisa

~Saturday, May 19th~

It seems im really struggling to keep up with this blogging through the week.  Monday is the beginning of a new week and hopefully I can do better.  The past week has been a busy one.  Nothing earth shattering of course.  Just busy.  We have finally had some excellent days as for the weather.  So this week has been spent working non stop in the garden.  Tomorrow...we celebrate!  The entire garden will be completely planted.  I am going to try to post garden pictures on Sunday evenings to watch the progress.  Today was a very very early one here.  Larry took off work to go to yard sales with us.  Started at five thirty am to get ready to leave by seven.  Katie and James werent ready so we went for coffee.  Headed out to the first one before eight.  Scored some AMAZING deals today!  This could get addicting.  Home and worked on the garden some more.  Dinner was good.  We bought a new grill so we grilled burgers and Katie brought pasta salad.  Seems we will be feeding them the next couple of days as they are preparing for a move.  After dinner we met Cassie, Karl, and firefly at Twin Kiss for dessert, some games and good family time.  Home for firefly to see the baby kittens and they all ended up staying till late watching some netflix.  Well tomorrow is a big day so I am off and headed straight to bed!

~Monday, May 14th~

The weather outside is horrid!!  I am so ready for some warm sunny days.  I am trying to be happy with what we have honestly I am!  I am tired of burning the stove just to take the chill and dampness out!  Started out the day determined not to do to much and thats pretty much the way the day went.  I picked a row of spinach and decided to dry it.  Thats going very very well.  The next several days will be filled with spinach recipes for sure!  Cleaned the upstairs only and took a quick trip to Target.  Scored well there.  bought a dress at seventy percent off as well as a ring and jacket for Firefly.  ALL at seventy percent off.  Couldnt head home without a stop at Goodwill.  Bought myself an adorable bohemian tank top!!  LOVE!  Home again and juiced for a pre dinner treat.  Dinner tonight is a new recipe.  Blueberry banana baked oatmeal.  Should be good!  Larry is outside trellising a huge pole for the green beans.  Dinner and a movie is in store very soon though.
Be well,
Lisa
